On the BBC website mobile site, I found some meta tags in the head:
<syntaxhighlight lang="html4strict" line>
<meta name="apple-touch-fullscreen" content="YES"> <meta name="HandheldFriendly" content="True"> <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width; initial-scale=1.0; maximum-scale=1.0; user-scalable=0;">
Hybrid performant mobile apps
Hybrid mobiles are better because they:
- are developed once in HTML 5 and CSS 3 then deployed to multiple platforms with Mobile/Phonegap,
- have access to more hardware features than a completely browser based app,
- work faster,
- are available for download in the app stores, and
- can be updated with the normal mobile process from a central server location.
I went to the Mobile/2012HyvesPresentation about making hybrid apps with Phonegap. Another attendee, Sam, made lots of notes and was kind enough to share them with me.
